Logic Pro X 10.4 brought lots of new enhancements and features, and one of the highlights is certainly the Step FX plugin. In this course, engineer, producer and composer Joshua Carney reveals everything about this awesome new multi-FX plugin.
Joshua starts by demonstrating the engine that powers Step FX: the Step Modulator. You learn how, with its 3 different lanes, the Step Modulator can be used to create everything from subtle sonic movement to crazy gating FX. You learn the filter, distortion, reverb, delay and Mod FX modules in detail, and you see and hear them all in action with lots of musical examples. You also discover everything about the XY Pad, you learn to modulate drum loops, create glitchy vocal transition effects, and more...
So sit back, launch Logic and learn to take your music one "step" forward using Step FX with the great Joshua Carney!
What an enjoyable course this is.
Josh is very easy to follow, so I felt well led throughout the video series. I've gone from feeling that I know pretty much nothing about Step FX to feeling confident about using each of its various modules; this is because of Josh's ability to make things simple without over-simplifying.
I'm much more likely to use Step FX now. It's such a versatile, fantastic-sounding plug-in which might otherwise have gone to waste in my plug-in library if not for this fantastic course.
Thanks for another great course, Josh!

I had been meaning to dive into Step FX in more detail for a while and I'm so glad I did. I had great fun following along with what Josh was doing, using my own sounds. Step FX is such a creative tool. Everything was explained very well with plenty of examples.
Josh, I'd love to see a follow up to this course that just focuses on sound design with Step FX.

Josh is always an enjoyable instructor. He's adapted is style to the shorter vids here and done it with aplomb. And, I wish there was a deeper dive to be able to virtually pick his brain more. But he does offer a ton of stuff to begin experimenting with. What I'm wishing for is more example of the "how" and "why". Love it though!
