This course, by Logic Pro expert Booker Edwards, takes you even deeper into the world of external MIDI instruments. Learn all about external multi-timbral MIDI, outboard audio processing and lots more in this 31-tutorial exposé!
Booker produces and writes under the name Triple B. He creates music for television, film and records and specializes in hip hop, R&B and the Akai MPC.
So, say you want to hook up some classic multi-timbral MIDI modules and some vintage audio processing hardware... and, you might have some very cool NEW keyboards, sequencers and drum machines as well. How do you get it all working together and synchronized? And how do you bring all that awesome audio back into Logic? Booker Edwards, the Atlanta Logic Trainer, untangles all those wacky wires and shows you how it's done!
This advanced course teaches you all about everything external in Logic Pro. Not only do you learn about managing multi-timbral instruments but Booker also totally demystifies your new best friend: the External Instrument Plugin. Next, is a diabolical discourse on synchronization. I mean, what good is all this cool gear if the beats don't line up? This is followed by the external audio hardware bible. This section alone is like a trip to classic analog heaven when you start hearing how magical a real, analog compressor sounds.
Finally, Booker answers the question that every producer want to know: "How do you synchronize Logic Pro with... ahem... Pro Tools!!" Yes, my friends, you will be elated to know that these mortal DAW enemies are now working together as audio/MIDI allies!
So, watch this course and learn everything about getting Logic talking with all manner of external devices... even outside the Apple box!
The course is fine, but it failed explaining how to deal with latency when tracking synths or other instruments. This was the reason a bought the course, but I'm still confused and tired of manually aligning waveforms. Everything else is well covered!

Absolutely wonderful tutorial! I've only ever used my Macbook Pro and USB keyboard. Now i'm able to run an old Casio keyboard and my Volca Sample all from Logic via MIDI. Booker does a wonderful job of keeping it simple yet explains what is going on to understand how everything is working. Keep up the good work!

Great Series both the Basic and Advanced MIDI,
For years I have worked with MIDI and both tutorials
really filled in the missing information I needed to
get my outboard keyboards hooked up properly in
a MIDI wise way.
