Once you've mastered the art of recording and editing songs, it's time to make your sound sparkle! GarageBand's internal DSP effects are perfectly suited to that job.
In this detailed tutorial by Paul Garay, you'll See & Hear all of GarageBand's main DSP plugins in action. Along the way, you'll learn important tips & tricks about Dynamic range compression, using EQs, adding phase and flange effects, reverbs, delay and much, much more.
There's even a detailed lesson in using Noise Gates to remove unwanted background sounds (like computer fan noise) from your audio signal. Whether you're recording your guitar, tracking vocals, or creating a podcast for internet distribution, this is important info to know!
For a full list of the DSP plugins and topics covered, see the Table of Contents below ...
As a beginner at home recording and new to GarageBand, I am glad I got this tutorial. Even though it is for GB-08, it is 100% applicable to GB-09. The basic interface looks different but the effects are identical. I am puzzled about why the Amp Simulation and Bass Amp features were left out of this tutorial since they were the only two items left on the Effects list. All in all, a great overview and a must have for the new user of GarageBand, especially at this price!!!

Wow, I'm so pleased with the GarageBand tutorials. I started with the Core module, and completed DSP. Now I feel like much of the mystery around digital music production, and have started recording. I'd recommend this to anybody who wants to get started and productive with GarageBand.

This tutorial is clear, well done and very informative. Specially, since no manual or GarageBand books talk about how to use the effects and what the typical settings are. I am definitely will be looking at other titles that I might need training on. Thank you!!
